Data Engineer
Below are the skill sets required for the Data Engineer role.
Technical Skills
Experience with Databricks/Spark/Talend is Must
  • Proven commercial experience as an ETL/ELT Developer using various databases/ ETL/ELT tools (e.g. Databricks, Oracle data Integrator, spark etc.).
  • Background in data warehouse design (ie. 3NF, dimensional modelling, Data lakes).
  • In-depth understanding of databases, on-premise and cloud (eg. Snowflake, Google BigQuery, Teradata, Oracle, SQL Server etc.)
  • In-depth knowledge of SQL with solid experience writing SQL code for querying, transforming business logic, creating and managing database objects.
  • Demonstrate understanding of different software development life-cycle methodologies (Agile, SDLC etc.).
  • Ability to translate business requirements into technical requirements.
  • Building and maintaining the data pipelines for the business (ELT/ETL)
  • Ensure the accuracy of code quality, logging, exception management and performance.
  • Scope business requirements and build stakeholder relationships for the team
  • Build reusable code, libraries, patterns and consumable frameworks for data sourcing, staging, transform, conforming and extraction
  • Load data into Snowflake using tools like Snow pipe, connectors, Spark, Python, Databricks etc
  • Exposure and proven experience in working on Big data technologies and cloud data warehousing
  • Hands on experience in loading real time batches e.g., Kafka, FT etc
Soft Skills
  • High attention to detail and accuracy to ensure data integrity.
  • Highly organised, with the ability to own and prioritise a variety of tasks and work within strict timeframes.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Analytical mind with a problem-solving aptitude.
  • Ability to carry task from requirements through testing and deployment to production environment.
